ROUGE DE NOËL - CHRISTMAS RED

Les jours précédant Noël...  C'est la période par excellence pour se carrer dans le rocking-chair tout près de la cheminée, théière et boîte à biscuits à portée de la main, et attaquer un nouveau tricot.

The dark days before Christmas...  This is the best time to install yourself in the rocking chair close by the crackling fire, tea pot and biscuit tin at hand, and to cast on a new knitting.

De donkere dagen voor Kerst...  Periode bij uitstek om in de knusse schommelstoel bij het haardvuur een nieuw breiwerk op te zetten, theepot en koekendoos bij de hand.

Le résultat est un châle, d'après un modèle de Sanne Kalkman, au nom de Percy Shawl.  C'est à ce nom-là en tout cas que l'on retrouve le patron à télécharger gratuitement sur Ravelry.  Toutefois, mon châle étant destiné à être offert comme cadeau de Noël, je l'ai rebaptisé Rouge de Noël (Christmas Red).
Pour créer ce modèle Sanne Kalkman s'est inspirée du Pitsilised Koekirjad, une encyclopédie de patrons de tricot de dentelle estonien, écrit par Leili Reimann.  Malheureusement, cet excellent ouvrage, n'étant plus réédité pour l'instant, se fait de plus en plus rare, même chez les bouquinistes.

J'adore ce modèle, au point que ça fait déjà la deuxième fois que je le tricote.  La première fois en marron avec un bord blanc, et maintenant, pour rester à la hauteur du moment, en rouge de Noël.
Le modèle se compose de 3 sections : A, B et C.  En jouant avec ces 3 sections du patron on peut faire varier le châle aussi bien en aspect qu'en dimensions.  Dans ma version à moi j'ai tricoté 8 fois la section A (ce doit être impérativement un multiple de 4), 3 fois la section B et 2 fois la C.
Rouge de Noël a été tricoté avec des aiguilles 3,5 (US #4).  J'ai utilisé 225 g (4,5 pelotes ou 902 m) de laine Baby Superwash, couleur Rouge de Mars, de Bouton d'Or.

It'll be a shawl, after a model from Sanne Kalkman and known as Percy Shawl.  Anyway, that's the name under which you may find the pattern on Ravelry (free download).  But since my shawl was intended as a Christmas present I renamed it Christmas Red.
Designer Sanne Kalkman got her inspiration for this model from Pitsilised Koekirjad, an encyclopedia of Estonian lace knitting patterns, written by Leili Reimann.  Unfortunately this excellent work hasn't been reissued for a long time.  So it is only available as second hand and may be quite difficult to obtain.

I adore this pattern and knitted it already in brown with a white border.  But this time, and for the opportunity, I did it in Christmas red.
The model is made up of 3 sections : A, B and C.  By playing with these 3 pattern sections one may vary aspect and dimensions of the shawl.  In my version I knitted 8 times pattern section A (must imperatively be a multiple of 4), 3 times pattern section B and 2 times C.
Christmas Red has been knitted with needles 3,5 (US #4) and I needed 225 g (4,5 balls or 902 m) of Baby Superwash-wool, colour Rouge de Mars, of Bouton d'Or.

Het is een sjaal geworden, naar een model van Sanne Kalkman, met de naam Percy Shawl.  Onder die benaming is het patroon althans te vinden en gratis te downloaden op Ravelry.  Maar vermits mijn sjaal als kerstcadeau was bedoeld heb ik hem omgedoopt tot Christmas Red.
Sanne Kalkman heeft zich voor het ontwerp van dit patroon geïnspireerd op Pitsilised Koekirjad, een encyclopedie van Estlandse kantbreiwerkpatronen, geschreven door Leili Reimann.  Jammer genoeg wordt dit uitstekend werk (voorlopig) niet heruitgegeven en is enkel, en nog moeilijk ook, als tweedehands boek verkrijgbaar.

Ik hou van dit patroon en het is dan ook al voor de tweede keer dat ik dit model brei.  De vorige keer in bruin met witte boord, en nu, om de periode eer aan te doen, in kerstrood.
Het model bestaat uit 3 patroongedeelten : A, B en C.  Door te spelen met deze patroongedeelten kan je deze sjaal laten variëren in uitzicht en dimensies.  In mijn uitvoering heb ik 8 keer patroongedeelte A gebreid (moet altijd een veelvoud van 4 zijn), 3 keer patroongedeelte B en 2 keer C.
Christmas Red is gebreid met naalden 3,5 (US #4) en daarbij gebruikte ik 225 g (4,5 bollen of 902 m) Baby Superwash-wol, kleur Rouge de Mars, van Bouton d'Or.

Nous voici arrivés à la fin de 2013, qui était la première année de mon blog.  Les nombreuses visites du monde entier, largement dépassant toute prévision, m'ont agréablement surprise.  Vos commentaires sur mes articles et vos e-mails, toujours très positifs, m'incitent à continuer ce blog.  Un mot d'appréciation aussi pour tous ceux qui m'ont mentionnée comme lien sur leur blog et pour mes épingleuses et abonnées sur Pinterest.

This brings us to the end of 2013, the first year of my blog.  I have been extremely surprised by the many thousands of visits from all over the world.  I did'nt dare to expect such a massive interest.  Your comments and numerous e-mails were all very positive and encourage me to continue with my blog.  Also a word of appreciation to all who tagged me on their blog and to my pinners and followers on Pinterest.

Hiermee zijn we aan het einde gekomen van 2013, mijn eerste blogjaar.  U hebt me buitengewoon verrast met uw vele duizenden bezoeken van over de hele wereld.  Ik ben wat overdonderd en had nooit op zo'n massale belangstelling durven hopen.  Uw commentaren en talrijke e-mails waren erg positief en sporen me aan om verder te gaan met mijn blog.  Een woord van appreciatie ook aan allen die me als link op hun blog hebben vermeld en aan mijn pinners en abonnees bij Pinterest.
Het was me allemaal zeer aangenaam.  Mijn dank is oprecht en ik hoop u volgend jaar opnieuw te kunnen boeien.
