I have always loved the mixture of several embroidery techniques in a single work. This outstanding doily combines my two favourite whitework techniques : hardanger and reticello.
Ik heb altijd gehouden van de combinatie van verschillende technieken in eenzelfde borduurwerk. Dit kleedje bij uitstek verenigt mijn twee favoriete witwerktechnieken : hardanger en reticello.
Pour la partie en hardanger je me suis inspirée des modèles de Mamen Arias (Carpacar), où j'ai trouvé le bord parfait. Des recherches dans les livres de Giuliana Buonpadre et de Giovanni Ostaus m'ont permis de composer les remplissages en reticello.
Ainsi, le large cadre double de l'ouvrage est typiquement hardanger, alors que les parties ajourées du milieu sont en reticello, et à mon avis ces deux techniques se marient parfaitement ensemble.
For the hardanger part I was inspired by the models of Mamen Arias (Carpacar), where I found the perfect border. Research in the books of Giuliana Buonpadre and Giovanni Ostaus allowed me to compose the reticello fillings.
So, the large double border of the work is typically hardanger, while the openwork areas in the middle are reticello embroidery, and in my opinion the two techniques make a perfect marriage.
Voor het gedeelte in hardanger heb ik me laten inspireren door de modellen van Mamen Arias (Carpacar), waar ik de perfecte boord heb aangetroffen. Opzoekingen in de boeken van Giuliana Buonpadre en Giovanni Ostaus hebben me in staat gesteld de vullingen in reticello samen te stellen.
Het brede dubbele kader is dus typisch hardanger, terwijl het opengewerkt gedeelte in het midden reticello-borduurwerk is, en naar mijn idee doen beide het prima samen.
